Carefully Handmade Textile Design & Craftwork

SÖNMUN is an artistic duo focused on home decor based in the south of Portugal and founded in 2022 by the two creative minds and wild at hearts, Marcos Alfares and Emilie Cavaco.

Carefully handmade between the sun and the sea of the Algarve, SÖNMUN is a craftwork that uses mainly the tufting technique as its original signature and every art piece is unique and one of a kind.

Inspired by the figurative elements of the Portuguese southern coast and its nature, SÖNMUN presents a new collection as a little ode to Algarve's unparalleled beauty and tradition.

In the attempt to offer the serenity of the algarvian elements and the singularity of the warm blue sky & sea, this collection embraces the minimalism of contemporary lines and colours as a destination to achieve comfort and inner peace as a reference to nature.

TUFTING WORKSHOPS

In this workshop the participant has the opportunity to create his own tufting project from the drawing to the handle of the tufting gun. The rest of the process will be done by SÖNMUN and the tufted piece completely finished will be ready to pick up in 48h max.
- Experience level: Beginner
- 3 px maximum per session
- 4 hour lesson
- Fabrication of a 50cm round Or square textile piece
- Material included in the session costs - tufting gun cut pile, tufting cloth, several yarn colors, scissors, shearing machine, textile glue, rug felt backing. (wood frame not included)
- Coffee Break
- Place: Loulé, Algarve
- Session cost 120€
In this workshop the participant has the opportunity to create his own tufting project and take home the textile piece completely finished. From the drawing to the handle of the tufting gun, including the work frame installation steps, rug fabrication, collage and finishing touches.
- Experience level: Beginner or Intermediate
- 3 px maximum per session
- 7 hour lesson
- Fabrication of a 50cm round Or square textile piece
